What is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra is a deep sleep-based meditation technique. Nidra means “sleep” in sanskrit, however you don’t actually sleep, but gradually descend into the state between consciousness and sleep. Nidra is done laying down in supine position with support for the head, back and knees. Sessions usually last between 30 and 45 minutes.

Can children practice Nidra?
Yes, they certainly can! The sessions are shorter and the script is kid friendly. John Vossler, on You Tube has a few Nidra videos for children.
What kinds of issues can Nidra help with?
I could be here all day naming everything it helps with! Reducing stress and anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, eating disorders, physical illness such as diabetes and cancer, chronic pain, insomnia, and even helps improve memory!
What is Reiki?
Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing technique. Rei means “universal life” and Ki means “energy”.
What does a session look like?
The client lays down on a reiki/massage table and the Practitioner gently sends this healing energy through their hands to different points of the body known as Chakras, or energy centers. Everyone has this energy all around them but it’s easy to get out of balance. We could have an abundance of energy in one part of the body and not enough in another. This imbalance may result in stress, sickness, pain or even disease, if left imbalanced for too long. The Reiki practitioner is merely a vessel to channel this energy and all the client has to do is lay there and feel relaxed! Sessions may last anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour.
Is Reiki a religion?
It is not a religion at all. One doesn’t even have to believe in life force energy for it to work. Anyone can try it, from atheists to christians. All that is needed is a willingness to be open to receive healing.
You talk about healing. Just what do you mean by this?
Our bodies are naturally capable of healing themselves if we let them. Reiki is just one tool to aide in this process. However, it is not a miracle cure. One won’t automatically be cured of a disease or heal a disability overnight. The healing one receives from Reiki is at a deeper, spiritual and emotional level. It opens up the Chakras (vibrating energy centers) to allow them to let energy move more freely throughout the body, thus aiding the healing process. That being said, it is very possible to lessen symptoms of stress, illness and disease if the Reiki is consistently applied.
Do I have to be touched?
Some people don’t care to be touched and that is totally understandable. Even I don’t like to be touched during Reiki but the good news is, it’s not necessary. In fact, my preferred method is to hover my hands just slightly above the body. You will still feel the energy and reap the benefits.
